First Trimester Uterine Artery Doppler, Placental Volume and Ductus Venosus Blood Flow as Predictors of Third Trimester Fetal Growth Parameters

چکیده
To evaluate the potentials of the first trimester uterine artery Doppler, placental volume measurement and ductus venosus blood flow as predictors of third trimester fetal growth parameters. This study was a prospective-observational study, conducted on 200 pregnant women, during a period of 2 years starting from June 1st 2013 till May 30th 2015, in order to evaluate the potentials of the first trimester uterine artery doppler, placental volume measurement and ductus venous blood flow as predictors of third trimester fetal growth parameters, as well as to determine whether these measurements are independent or not in the prediction of fetal growth restriction. First trimester uterine artery pulsatility index (PI) was found to have a negative correlation with third trimester BPD, HC, AC and FL, as well as with fetal birth weight. First trimester placental volume was found to have a positive correlation with third trimester HC, AC and FL but not with BPD. No correlation was found between first trimester placental volume and fetal birth weight. First trimester ductus venosus Doppler indices (PI and PVIV) were found to have no correlation with third trimester fetal growth parameters (BPD, HC, AC and FL), which was later confirmed at birth.

I-46: Obstetrical Doppler
Accurate assessment of gestational age, fetal growth, and the detection of fetal and placental abnormalities are major benefits of sonography. Color Doppler can be used to assist in the identification of vascular architecture, detection of vascular pathology and visualization of blood flow changes associated with physiologic processes and disease states. The clinical applications of obstetrical...
متن کاملFetal Ductus Venosus Flow Velocity Waveforms and Maternal Serum Afp Transabdominal Chorionic Villus Sampling before and after First-trimester
Doppler flow velocity waveform recording in the fetal ductus venosus and umbilical artery as well as maternal blood sampling for serum alpha-fetoprotein (MSAFP) was performed before and after transabdominal chorion Mtlus sampling (TACVS) in 36 women of advanced maternal age (3 36 years). Gestational age ranged between 11 and 13 weeks. No chromosomal anomaly was detected. No statistically sigrul...

OBJECTIVE To investigate first trimester human fetal cardiac function in relation to cardiac volume blood flow, and peripheral arterial and venous blood flow patterns. METHODS Transvaginal Doppler ultrasonography was performed in 16 uncomplicated pregnancies at 6+, 7+, 8+, 9+, and 10+ gestational weeks. The shape of the inflow waveform and the presence of atrioventricular valve regurgitation ...
متن کاملThe usefulness of fetal Doppler evaluation in early versus late onset intrauterine growth restriction. Review of the literature.
Intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) represents a serious condition that can lead to increased perinatal morbidity, mortality and postnatal impaired neurodevelopment. There are two distinct phenotypes of IUGR: early onset and late onset IUGR with different onset, patterns of evolution and fetal Doppler profile. In early onset preeclampsia the main Doppler modifications are at the level of umb...

The aim of this study was to determine the first trimester human peripheral arterial and venous blood flow between 5 - 10 weeks of gestation. Two hundred twenty four women with singleton, uncomplicated pregnancies were prospectively studied with transvaginal ultrasound. Ductus venosus, umbilical artery waveforms and pulsatility indexes (PI) were assessed as well as the waveform of the umbilical...
